Kansas Housing Grant Deadlines offer Affordable Solutions for Living Rural

In our ongoing commitment to fostering affordable housing solutions for rural communities in Kansas, we are pleased to present a comprehensive list of Kansas housing grant deadlines.

Government Entities, Cities, Counties, and Non-Profits:

  • Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Housing Program: Applications accepted year-round, from January 29 to December 2. Excluding Johnson County, this program serves all cities and counties in Kansas.
  • Moderate Income Housing (MIH) Program: The Kansas Housing Resource Corporation will announce the deadline dates after the Legislature adjourns.
  • Mutual Self-Help Housing Technical Assistance Grants: Applications accepted year-round. Utilize the USDA Eligibility Site for address-specific determinations or general eligible area reviews.
  • Rural Housing Site Loans: Applications accepted year-round. Check eligibility based on addresses.

Individuals:

  • First Time Home Buyer Program (FTHB): Ongoing funds available. Eligible for Kansans with a median income at or below 80% of their area median income, except in designated areas administering their federal funds independently.
  • Home Loan Guarantee for Rural Kansas (HLG): Ongoing guarantees available. Eligible counties have populations under 10,000.
  • Homeownership Set-aside Program (HSP): Application window open from March 4, 2024, to November 29, 2024. First-time homebuyers earning at or below 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI).
  • Tenant Based Rental Assistance: Availability varies based on administering agency. Individuals must earn less than 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI).
  • USDA Direct Home Loan Program: Applications accepted year-round. Income-eligible households not exceeding 115% of median household income living in rural areas.
  • USDA Guaranteed Rural Housing Loan Program: Applications accepted year-round. Income-eligible households not exceeding 115% of median household income living in rural areas.
  • USDA Home Repair Program: Applications accepted year-round. Eligibility criteria include homeowner occupancy, inability to obtain affordable credit elsewhere, and household income not exceeding the very low limit by county. For grants, applicants must be aged 62 or older. Utilize the USDA Eligibility Site for address-specific determinations or general eligible area reviews.

Investors:

  • Kansas Housing Investor Tax Credit Program: The deadline to submit applications under this RFP is 5:00 PM on the days listed below. These deadlines may be extended at the sole discretion of KHRC based upon the availability of credits.
    • May 31, 2024
      • Small, Medium, and Large Counties
    • July 12, 2024
      • Small, Medium, and Large Counties
