Leroy’s Printing: A Family Business and So Much More

Unmatched product quality, dedication to customers, and true passion for their work has catapulted Leroy’s Printing & Publishing of Colby into a truly special business in Northwest Kansas.

Few businesses have stood the test of time quite like Leroy’s. Family owned and operated since 1964, Leroy’s has been in business for 58 years.

As if the sheer longevity of the business doesn’t speak for itself, the dedication to communication with customers, a quality end product, and hard work does the rest of the talking.

Melissa Schneider plays a main role in the operation of the store, and while she calls herself the “manager”, she is quick to say that the business is all family owned and everyone does “all of the things”.

Schneider explains that her grandma and grandpa started the business back in ‘64, and ever since then, it has been a family affair. Sadly, her grandfather has since passed, but her grandmother, Joan Ziegler, is 85 years old and still helps run the store. Schneider’s mother, Marla, Schneider herself, and Schneider’s two daughters make up the “four generations”. A sister-in-law on Schneider’s husband’s side also works part time.

“This has been a family affair since Grandpa started it,” Scheider stated. “The whole family has been raised down here. My two girls are being raised down here.”

Leroy’s performs a plethora of services, in fact, 45+ products and services are available to their customers. These include but are not limited to all types of printing, such as business cards, letterheads, invitations, stationary, announcements, programs, and envelopes. They offer print-based services such as booklet binding, cutting, drilling holes, perforation, copies, and online-based services such as mailing, scanning, faxing, and online printing and proofing. Additionally, other services are offered such as stapling, collating, and numbering.

The business website states their values, saying, “We are committed to business integrity and honesty through hard work, organization, courtesy, and communication.”

Clearly the printing side of the business is busy and flourishing, and in addition, there are a couple of other sections of the store, including a paperie store, which is an extension of the print shop.

Schneider also has a section of the store that has been dedicated to decor and gifts, jewelry, candles, purses, totes, dish towels, Popt! Gourmet popcorn, and much, much more. Customers will find a carefully curated selection that is sure to please nearly anyone on your gift list.

The family is very thankful for everyone who continues to patronize their store, even after all these years. “We have been blessed that everyone has supported us this long. We’re so thankful that year after year we’ve been supported. Like everyone else it was a rough time with Covid, but we try to expand and change to keep going,” said Schneider.

Next time you are in the area, be sure to stop by Leroy’s and see all they have to offer! Additionally, you can visit their website to get started on your next printing project, and you can visit their Facebook page to see all they have to offer in-store.
